"I wanted to say, I just watched the DVD which came today! It's AWESOME. FARRRR better then the first one which was kind of a videography of the IHLGF 2001... There's sooo much info in this I can't stand it. I'm going to go far with this DVD.. you have done an outstanding job and it's well worth the 'extra' wait... I enjoyed watching you fly almost more than anything else on the video because it showed me the 'brain' of a pro pilot and will 'launch' me into the next level of flying I believe. Thank you for your tremendous effort. I hope many pilots HLG AND non HLG buy this to understand the finess involved in flying with the 'light touch.' Can't wait to see what's next." - Chris Ballmer

"This is a great DVD set with great photography as expected from Radio Carbon Art. The first DVD is a must have for any builder, especially new HLG (not just DLG) builders. Paul covers everything from selecting receivers, servos and installation as well as building tips and radio setup. There are clear diagrams and descriptions describing exactly how the control surfaces affect the flight. I definitely recommend the section on flight tuning, which covers CG placement and tips on preparing plane ready before fine tuning at the field. The second DVD takes it one step further with great footage of DLG techniques at the field. Paul is kind enough to share his early mistakes in beginning DLG. Overall its great reference material." - Tom Moore

"I got mine when I came home from the weekend - It is so much fun to watch - I really like the various pros talking about their babies - and to watch the different launch styles in some detail is great - I also feel that watching Paul fly from thermal to thermal really opened my eyes - my longest flight is perhaps 2 minutes (but prob not quite). Now I know what's possible and I can start my Salsa xl knowing what the build process can be....awesome. By the way I also own Secrets of Thermals to see that info put to work in the field - This has to be the best investment you can make in dlg." - Rand24

"Great video. All the care and quality that Paul put in his work is there. For pilots that are far from the DLG crowd like me it is a really great way to see and hear about DLG. 2 DVDs, over 3 hours of material :-) Thanks again Paul for this very fine video." - Luis Cimon

"I received my copy about 2 weeks back and can not get enough of it! There is a huge amount of information for the DLG enthusiast in this DVD. I would strongly recommend you purchase a copy for your self as soon as possible. I am presently viewing this a 6th time now. I just love the Field Sessions and how they were filmed. The variety of climatic conditions was typical of what we receive around here in Oregon. As you watch Paul fly his Pole Cat Aeroworks DLG around the sky you begin to understand why he has paid close attention to the nuances of camber control and mixing of control surfaces on his plane. He is a good teacher also. The scene with the hawk really did it for me. Paul has never been so thorough in his approach. The Shop Sessions are very good. He talks about how to assemble, set up and balance your DLG right out of the box as well as how to prevent mistakes in the building process. The interviews with some of the best DLG pilots was fun and informative to watch, including the one with Dr. Mark Drela where he talked about DLG design philosophies. I thought the slow motion launch sequences were so neat because now I can see where I have been going wrong with my launch. I personally feel this is good enough to be considered the best video of its kind ever! If you want to purchase that radio also purchase this video and you cant possibly go wrong." - Kyle Kroker

"Every one of Paul's videos are great and this one is no different. The first disk takes you through nearly everything you need in the workshop to get your new ship ready to fly. From there disk 2 starts with your field equipment as Paul goes through his tool box for us. Launch techniques are covered in detail and those super slow motion sequences are worth a thousand words. Of course the best part of the Hand Launch Pro Clinic DVD is the look at my XP-3 model and exclusive interview with me:-) I suggest you go straight to that part as soon as you get it." - Bruce Davidson

"Just a quick e-mail to thank you for such a GREAT DVD. Very informative." - John Mitchell

Paul Naton's Hand Launch Pro Clinic Review - by George Voss

Paul Naton makes the best videos period! His latest effort, Hand Launch Pro Clinic, is typical of Paul's excellent work.

Competitive Hand Launch Gliders is probably the ultimate test in soaring ability. You start from a relatively low altitude, find thermals in their infancy, and ride them just long enough to gain sufficient altitude to find another thermal upwind. Once found, the new thermal is aborted. You race your sailplane down for a quick turn around launch and the process begins again. Needless to say, this type of soaring is much more difficult than starting from a 600 food winch or high-start launch with a large, efficient sailplane.

Hand launch gliders (HLG), whether competition or sport, began a relatively few years ago. And just like learning to fly, learning the ins and outs of HLG flying is just that: a learning situation.

The Hand Launch Pro Clinic DVD will take you a long, long way up the higher education path of HLG flying. The DVD not only covers the basics, but goes into much more detail. The DVD covers everything from aircraft set-up, getting maximum launches, and even tactics used in competition. Paul is one of the nations best HLG flyers, finishing numerous times in the top 10 at the International HLG Festival (IHLGF) held in San Diego each year.

To make the video better, Paul includes insights from other top-level finishers like multi-time IHLGF winner Joe Wurts, Oleg Golovidov, Phil Pearson, Phil Barnes and the newly crowned winner of the 2004 Nationals, Bruce Davidson

There is no reason that a person with average hand launch skills can't view this video, and the Thermal Secrets' video, and a little...OK, a lot...of practice, and become the next IHLGF or Nats winner. If you desire to increase your competition standings, or just want to find out what DLG is all about, this is a video that shouldn't be missed.
